Kip began standup paddleboarding on the Big River in 2011, after returning home to Iowa from San Diego’s surf breaks to open the Dubuque location of fitness program Farrell’s eXtreme Bodyshaping.
As an avid outdoorsman and waterman, he quickly became aware of the unique nature and raw beauty of America's Mississippi River Valley and surrounding Driftless Area. With a desire to share the breathtaking experiences of the towering bluffs and never-ending island networks, he launched Big River SUP in 2013, offering introductory classes, guided backwater tours, and a blissful SUP Yoga practice led by his wife Laci.
As a PaddleFit Level II Certified Coach with over 1000 hours of self-guided experience on the water, Kip has insight into the unique combination of skills, techniques, and extraordinary spaces required to make your experience on Dubuque’s Big River deeply spiritual and highly memorable.
